Betty Jane Boschee Obituary
With heavy hearts the family of Betty Jane Boschee of Medicine Hat, formally of Foremost, beloved wife of late Melbourne "Mel" Boschee, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, with her family by her side, at the age of 80 years old.
Betty was born on September 24, 1945, and raised in Irvine. In school, Betty loved playing ball with the boys and enjoyed all school sports. She even received a trophy for the Queen of track and field.
On August 21, 1964, Betty married the love of her life Mel and they started their life in Elkwater on the Boschee Family Farm. In 1967, they purchased land in Foremost, moving to the village of Foremost permanently in 1974.
Betty actively worked beside Mel on the farm for many years before taking on a second job as a secretary at the Alberta Wheat Pool, where she worked until her retirement in the spring of 2002.
After Mel's passing in June 2002, Betty remained at the family home in Foremost. She always had the best, perfectly manicured lawn and her flowers were always the fullest and brightest.
In the fall of 2021, Betty moved to Medicine Hat and was able to reconnect with her sisters, brother and their families. She enjoyed brunches, suppers, chuckwagons, rodeo and whatever other adventure they would take her on. She was always game for it.
She took great pride watching her kids and grandkids, spending time at the rink watching figure skating, hockey, ringette, in gymnasiums or at dance recitals. She was always cheering loud and proud. There wasn't a person that didn't know who Gramma Betty belonged to.
Betty would visit her kids and grandkids, often never showing up empty handed. She always arrived with a car full of cookies, cake, buns or whatever else she figured we needed or if she wanted to try something new. When any of us visited, we always got our favourite meal and dessert, and there was always leftovers to take home.
Betty always said her greatest accomplishment was her family and she was extremely proud of each one of them. We love you and will miss you mom/gramma.
Betty is survived by her two children, Brian (Lynette) Boschee of Foremost and Melanie (Peter) Boschee of Strathmore; her special grandchildren, Samantha (Jonathan) Boschee, Houston (Rayna) Boschee and Cayley (Matt) MacEachern; her most loved great grandchildren, Dylynn, Easton, Jordyn, Tate and one more on the way; her four sisters, Shirley (Elmer) Hagel, Olivia (Bill) Lucas, Judy (Ed) Stock and Joan (Gordon) Collard; her brother, James (Janet) Zeller; her sister-in-law, Donna Jacober as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her husband, Melbourne "Mel" Boschee; her parents, Art and Racheal Zeller; her in-laws, Wallace and Alice Boschee, and her brother, Kenneth Zeller.
A private family service will take place at the Foremost Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Betty's honour to HALO c/o HALO Air Ambulance (#12 - Airport Drive SW, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 5G4), or a charity of your choice.
