It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, son, brother and papa, Brian Selwood in Medicine Hat, on Friday, March 6, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 50 years.  

Brian leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Devon; his three children, Brett (Tysan), Camryn (Alex) and Maddy (Wyatt); his mother, Sue (Wayne) Selwood-Henry; his in-laws, Leonard (Sharon) Mastel; his sister-in-law, Dara Devore; his brother Anton (Jody) Selwood; his stepbrother, Mike Henry; his nieces and nephews, Sydney and Jackson Devore and Brody and Rylan Selwood and his two grandchildren, Annalise and Theo Selwood.  

Brian was predeceased by his father, Ted Selwood and his two nephews, Jayden Selwood and Tyler Devore.  

Brian was born on August 18, 1975, in Barrie, ON, as a military brat.  After multiple moves, his family chose to settle in Medicine Hat.  After high school graduation, Brian moved to Edmonton and became employed by Park Memorial Funeral Home, beginning his journey to obtain his dual license as a Funeral Director and Embalmer.  When Brian returned to Medicine Hat, he was hired by Pattison Funeral Home, where he worked until his accident in 2016.  Brian’s passions in life were his family, his jobs and his beloved animals.

Those who wish to pay their respects may do so in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.  

The family would like to extend a special thank you to those who helped Brian in his cancer journey - Margery E. Yuill Cancer Center, Palliative Care, Home Care and St. Joseph’s Home.  Thank you to Justin, Tania, Janelle and numerous others for filling Brian’s journey with friendship and compassion.  There are too many to thank individually but please know that every one of you has a special place in our hearts.
