Carlos Humberto Granados was born in San Vicente, El Salvador, on April 20, 1936, and passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, at St Joseph’s Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. He is predeceased by his parents and nine siblings. 

Carlos was a devoted, loving father and a proud grandfather. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Estela, and together they welcomed two daughters before moving to California in 1980 due to the civil war in El Salvador. His family joined him two years later, and after three more years, he brought them to Medicine Hat, Alberta, where they built a warm and enduring home.

He came to know the Lord, Jesus Christ as his saviour in the early 1980s and spent many years generously using his gifts in service to others. Carlos’ greatest joy was always his family. He was a steadfast friend, a quiet source of strength, and a man whose deep kindness left a lasting imprint on everyone who knew him.

Every spring, he looked forward to tending his garden, finding peace and delight in nurturing his plants and flowers. He took real satisfaction in watching things grow.
Carlos is survived by his loving wife of almost 57 years; his children Julissa (Blair) Goodnough and Connie (Joe) Grove and his grandchildren Vanessa (Kristopher), Nathan, Alexa and Lukas; plus, many extended family members and friends who will forever carry his example of love and integrity in their hearts.

Carlos Humberto Granados nació en San Vicente, El Salvador, el 20 de abril de 1936 y falleció pacíficamente el 28 de julio de 2026 en el Centro de Cuidados Paliativos de St. Joseph, después de una valiente batalla contra el cáncer. Le precedieron en muerte sus padres y nueve hermanos.

Carlos fué un padre dedicado y amoroso, y un orgulloso abuelo. En 1969 se casó con el amor de su vida, Estela, y juntos recibieron a dos hijas antes de mudarse a California en 1980 por la guerra civil en El Salvador. Su familia se reunió con él dos años después y, tres años más tarde, se trasladó con ellos a Medicine Hat, Alberta, donde construyeron un hogar cálido y duradero.
El conoció al Señor Jesucristo como su salvador a principios de los años ochenta, y dedicó muchos años a servir generosamente a los demás con los dones que Dios le dió. La mayor alegría de Carlos siempre fué su familia. El fué un amigo leal, una fuente tranquila de fortaleza y un hombre cuya profunda bondad dejó una huella perdurable en todos los que lo conocieron.Cada primavera esperaba con entusiasmo volver a su jardín, encontrando paz y alegría al cuidar sus plantas y flores. Disfrutaba viendo crecer todo.
Le sobreviven su amada esposa de casi 57 años, sus hijas Julissa (Blair) Goodnough y Connie (Joe) Grove y sus nietos Vanessa (Kristopher), Nathan, Alexa y Lukas, más muchos familiares y amigos que llevarán para siempre en sus corazones su ejemplo de amor e integridad.

The memorial service  will be held in the  Iglesia Hispana Evangelica de Medicine Hat (1002 Yuill Street SE, Medicine Hat, AB), on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.
