Carol Ann Lawton of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Charles Lawton, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the age of 80 years. 

Carol leaves to cherish her memory, four children, Neil (Kim) Lawton, Ken Lawton, Tara (Mike) Holder and Brenda Lawton (Will Sweeny); one daughter-in-law, Shelley Lawton; seven grandchildren, Jade (Wayne) Arsenault, Willow Underhill, Dylan (Jess) Lawton, Ayden Holder, Carson Jones, Delaney Jones and Deion Holder; four great grandchildren, Chloe Arsenault, Oliver Arsenault, Macklin Ray and Isaiah Ray and two sisters-in-law, Eileen Hayes and Myrna Hayes.  

Along with her husband Charles, she was predeceased by her parents, Earl and Nepha Hayes; her son, Charles “Chuck” Lawton; her three sisters, Joyce Reeder, June (Gordon) Moritz and Betty Hayes and her three brothers, Francis Hayes, James “Jim” Hayes and Eddie Hayes.

Carol was born in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan, on September 26, 1945, to Earl and Nepha Hayes. She was the youngest of seven children. Carol grew up and attended school in Gull Lake. She married Charles Lawton in July of 1963.  Carol loved and served God her entire life. In her teens she was involved with CGIT.  In their 30's, Charles and Carol were members of the CB Radio Club in Medicine Hat. She spent most of her life as a housewife, and she moved her mother into her home to care for Nepha in her last years.  She loved to bake, her specialty was her apple pie. Carol’s favorite vacations were camping with her family.  In the last few years, she really enjoyed art projects and completing colouring books with great pride. 

The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Cartwright officiating.
