Diane Marion Stepple Obituary

About Vern & Diane

In memory of Vernon Jonathon Stepple and Diane Marion Georgetta, who departed this earthly realm on November 13, 2023, and May 24, 2024, respectively, with a final "to hell with all this!"

Diane, a native of Vanguard, Saskatchewan, born on November 2, 1952, and Vern, hailing from Kyle, Saskatchewan, born on April 12, 1953, embarked on their ultimate journey together after saying "I do" on September 16, 1972. Their shared interests, passions, hobbies, and their delightful penchant for mischief made them the perfect dynamic duo—a blend of sass, sunshine, and sarcasm, a match made in heaven.

Their hobbies were as varied as their personalities; from breeding Pekingese dogs to crafting in ceramics, camping, glass etching, woodwork, photography, leatherwork, building websites, and crocheting—they had more hobbies than a retiree with a trust fund and an addiction to Pinterest! If it was a hobby, chances are they mastered or at least tried it at some point.

Their commitment to community was impressive, evidenced by their involvement with the Medicine Hat Kennel Club and the Golden Sheaf Park, where they camped for years and years and years. They were, without a doubt, the power couple of Pekingese and park politics!

When they weren’t busy being model citizens (on the surface only), they were out in nature, camping and scavenging garage sales like seasoned pros. Their motto? “Life’s too short to sit still,” or maybe it was just, “Never pay full price.”

Over the years, they had many furry friends, mostly dogs but occasionally a guinea pig or bird as well. Their most recent furry companions, Jester and Raja, were practically family, providing more warmth and companionship than a Netflix binge on a snowy day. Thankfully, their daughter Tania has taken up the mantle of chief dog whisperer, ensuring Jester and Raja continue to live the ultimate pampered life.

Vern and Diane’s legacy extends far beyond their crafting projects and camping trips, and it’s clearly impossible to wrap up their entire lives in only a few paragraphs.

Their children -Tania, Tina, and Tammy - along with their grandchildren, Diane, Jon, Sara, and George, Linkyn and Liam, and great-grandchildren, Wren and River - will carry on their spirit of adventure and mischief for generations to come. Not to be forgotten, Vern’s brothers, Randall and Darron, and sister Louann, along with Diane’s sister Shirley, who likely have enough stories to fill a small library!

As we bid farewell to Vern and Diane, let’s remember them not with tears, but with laughter and gratitude for the joy, endless eye-rolling dad jokes, and over 50 years of love and loyalty they shared. May they forever camp under clear skies and find endless bargains in the garage sales of eternity.
