Obituary
Elke Backer, age 83, died peacefully in Medicine Hat on March 8, 2023, of age related causes. She was born on the Egge homestead in Westmark, Alberta on July 8, 1939, to Elise and Friedrich Wilhelm Egge. She graduated high school from Woking and went on to study Education at the University of Alberta before becoming a school teacher. She was predeceased by her husband Henry, daughter Delores, and sister Erica. She is survived by her children Duane (Phyllis), Ruby (Rob), Linda (Roger), Raymond (Alana), brother Hans (Karen) as well as numerous grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Mom was well known for her compassion and love of people as well as a good card or board game. We invite all friends and family for a CELEBRATION of Life on her birthday July 8, 2023 in Westmark, Alberta.
