Fredrick "Fred" Irvin Hoffman Obituary
Fred Irvin Hoffman passed away on Friday, July 25th, 2025, at the age of 85 years, beloved husband of the late Marion Hoffman who passed away in May 2024. He leaves to cherish his memory, his two children, Glenda Hawthorne (Gary Burr) and Lorna (Craig) Hoffman-Pemberton; one granddaughter, Kaitlyn (Aden) Brandt; one brother Edgar (Lorna) Hoffman, one sister-in-law, Gladys (Don) Perry; as well as his fourteen nieces and nephews, Ron, Clifford, Audrey, Joanne, Debbie, Marj, Bob, Jennifer, Kathryn, Kevin, Leanne, Patti, Ashley, and Chelsey, whom he was close to.
Fred successfully farmed in Leader, Saskatchewan for many years with Marion. They were so thankful for their farm, and they frequently talked about God’s faithfulness. Their teamwork and partnership throughout life included much hard work and many unforgettable memories. Fred loved his farm, and he enjoyed mentoring younger farmers. He was up early and worked long hours tending to the farm that he cherished. Along with his devotion to his farm, he was just as devoted to his family whom he loved and supported.
Fred enjoyed travelling around the world with Marion along with their family and friends, with Israel and Florida being places that they visited on numerous occasions. Their love of Israel took them back 17 times. Fred was very active in his Church of which he was a board member for a number of years and later was an elder. He was also a member of The Gideons International and Canadian Foodgrains Bank. He was wholeheartedly devoted to the gospel and all throughout his life, he continued to provide encouragement to those around him.
Fred always brightened the room with his entertaining stories. He loved sitting around the table for meals, joking around and sharing stories from his past. He was a person that everyone could trust and rely on because he was a man of wisdom and strength. All it took was to meet Fred once and he would never forget you, he was accepting of all. He spent the last year at Good Samaritan’s where he developed new friendships with both residents and staff. He was appreciative of the care that he received.
Fred was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, neighbour, and friend to all and he will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him and the many lives that he touched.
He was predeceased by his wife of almost 63 years, Marion Hoffman, his parents, Jacob and Katie Hoffman; one son-in-law, Stephen Hawthorne; his brothers and sisters-in-law Oscar (Isabelle) Hoffman, Alfred (Agnes) Hoffman, sister Gertie (Norman) Nagel, brother-in-law Fred (Lorrie) Holstein and niece Connie Hoffman.
