Gerald Wise, beloved friend to all he met passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at the age of 90 years old.

 Born in 1935 to Michael and Leah Wise in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan and younger brother to Jack Wise.  

Jerry lived a gentle, joyful life filled with rhythm and connection to all he met.  Jerry was a man who found meaning in small rituals such as his morning coffee, his favourite tune on, or the satisfying crack of a bowling ball down a polished lane.  

Jerry loved words and delighted in seeing them written down, especially when they carried the shape of a memory or moment worth holding.  Jerry's unique stories, phrases and expressions will always be remembered in our hearts.  

Among the most meaningful presences in Jerry's life was his mom and dad, his brother Jack Wise and sister-in-law Evelyn Wise.   Extending family Sylvia Marshall, Blaine, Matthew, and Parker Donaldson whose love and support were a constant light in his later years.  Jerry also shared a deep bond with Cleo, who opened her home and heart to Jerry offering him comfort and support over many years.  

Jerrys second family was all those at Vecova who over many years cared and loved him and brought him a sense of belonging and community.  Jerry also was apart of the Bethtzedec congregation in Calgary and enjoyed attending the synagogue and celebrating Jewish High Holidays. 

Jerry will be laid to rest beside his mom and dad on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hillside Cemetery in Medicine Hat, with Rabbi Russell Jayne officiating.

In his honour, those who knew him are invited to write a memory, share a favourite song, or sip a cup of coffee with presence and gratitude.  Let Jerry's memory move threw us - softly, like music.
