Joyce Mae Czember Obituary

It is with deep sadness that the family of Joyce Mae Czember (née Rance) announces her passing on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, at the age of 86 years. Joyce was born and raised in Suffield, Alberta, where she grew up surrounded by the close-knit Rance family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Czember (2003); her parents, Fred and Lois Rance; her sisters, Audrey Merlo and Jean Bengston; her brother, Ernie Rance; two sons, Douglas and Keith Bohne in infancy.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cherie Lemire (White Rock), Fred Bohne (Medicine Hat), and Julie (Ron) Redeker (Calgary); her stepchildren, Lyle Czember and Lanette (Greg) Hopfauf and their families; her, grandchildren Coreen Sadoway, Jessica Smith, Travis Lemire, Alisha Lemire, Sydney Dorchak, Sydney Rowsell, and Mackenzie Redeker.  Joyce’s legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Carson Born, Eleanor Sadoway, Abigail Lemire, Juliet Sadoway, and August Ennis. She is also survived by her siblings, George (Bernice) Rance, Debbie (Fred) Georgeadis, Ben (Shaina) Rance, Linda (Jim) Wright, and Kathy Cooney, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Joyce spent most of her working life alongside her husband Richard, running Valleydale Greenhouses, where she worked tirelessly with flowers and served the community with dedication. She later took over the family-owned Health Products Center, a business she continued to operate well into her eighties until her health began to decline.  Joyce had a gift for helping others and took great joy in guiding anyone who walked through her doors toward better health.  A passionate gardener, Joyce was known for having one of the most beautiful yards and gardens around. She also adored her little dog Brae, who rarely left her side and brought her great comfort and companionship.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt acknowledgment to Linda Gove, a very special friend whose constant companionship, care, and kindness meant so much to Joyce in the last years of her life. Her support was a blessing, and the family is deeply grateful.

Joyce was an important and cherished part of her family, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
