Kyla Gauthier Obituary

Kyla spent her final days at home, surrounded by her family. While the lives of her loved ones – Nick, Hallie, Easton, Shayla, Chris, Dre and Brody, Connie and Dave will never be the same; Kyla found peace in that she had the chance to tell each of them how much she loved them before passing away September 13, 2022.
Kyla was born January 6, 1981 in Medicine Hat. The best moments of Kyla’s school experience were meeting her soul mate, Nick Gauthier and best friend Clara at St. Mary’s Junior High School. In 2006, Nick and Kyla exchanged vows, promising to spend the rest of their lives together. Kyla’s family was the center of her world.  She cherished every moment of being a mother to Hallie and Easton, enjoying listening to their stories and supporting them in all their activities. She had a special relationship with her nephews, Dre and Brody, devoting time to supporting their adventures. She was all about family, friends and memories with lots of love and laughs.  Kyla was always the most enthusiastic participant in making family memories, creating special moments and remembering the small things that would guarantee everyone felt special. Kyla always had a smile and it was infectious to everyone around her, especially her family.
In 2012, she completed her dental assistant certificate.  She came to realize that she enjoyed working in endodontics and was employed by Schow Dental. Kyla was a puzzle master, even once finishing a 500-piece puzzle while doing a round of chemotherapy. Every September Kyla awaited her letter to Hogwarts School of Wizardry, avidly reading the books to prepare for the moment it arrived. She shared the love of the Toronto Blue Jays with many of her family members and the games were a constant on the TV in her home. In her final days, her family noticed a bluejay sitting outside her window. Recently she became passionate about refinishing vintage wood furniture and started the Facebook page called “All Things Made Beautiful”.
When her cancer returned her positive attitude and tenacious spirit enabled her to live every day to the fullest. So much so, while battling fear and pain, she decided that what she needed was more family, laughs and love. Her passion to live and spend as much time with family as possible resulted in a large party named The Bubble Bash and the entire family setting out for a road trip, which Kyla called the BC Fun Fiesta, posting daily updates of our shenanigans.   Kyla wanted everyone to know “That her family was her everything and she loves everyone so much”.
While Kyla loved food and flowers, a goal at the end of her life was to help other’s experiencing cancer.  She did this by raising $704 at the Bubble Bash and donating it to Alberta Cancer Foundation (Tom Baker Cancer Center). For family and friends so wishing, please support Kyla’s passion to help others and make memory donations in Kyla’s name to the Alberta Cancer Foundation - Tom Baker Cancer Clinic specifying “Patient Assistance”.   https://www.albertacancer.ca/donate/.  A celebration of life will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, September 24,  2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant Pat Grisonich officiating.  The service will be live streamed.  Those who wish to attend virtually, please visit pattisonfuneralhome.com and select live streaming, then select youtube (arrow).  A private interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery.
