Loretta Jean Martin, daughter of John (deceased) and Diana Smale, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in the Medicine Hat Hospital ICU, with family by her side, at the age of 66 years.  

Born on February 15, 1960, Loretta was known for her love of family and friends, her kindness, her compassion, her resilience, and her strong and foundational faith.  

She spent her life involved and committed to every aspect of the church. From administration, to assisting in the nursery, teaching Sunday school, prayer chains, women's and youth groups, Pinecrest Camp, and more.  

Loretta will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Diana Smale; her sister, Louise Enns; her husband, Daryl Martin; her children, Curtis, Colby and Jeffrey; her grandchildren, Jean, Xander, Ryen, Lily and Luna, and of course by all the other close family and friends.  

Those who knew Loretta will remember her for her unwavering love of her family, her generous spirit, and her ability to make others feel seen and cared for. Whether through quiet support or shared laughter, Loretta created lasting memories that will be treasured forever.  A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered. Her legacy of love, resilience, and compassion will remain with us always.  

A service to honor Loretta's life will be held at TEMPLE BAPTIST CHURCH at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026, with Pastor Ed Lehman officiating and a reception to follow.
