Maria Garcia

Maria da Conceicao Garcia (nee Amaral) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at the age of 86 years.  She was predeceased by her husband, Jose Garcia.  Maria came to Canada from Pico, Azores, Portugal in 1972 and moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta, becoming a Canadian citizen in 1984.  She is survived by her sisters, Maria Henriques and Maria Lurdes Moniz together with numerous nephews and nieces.  Maria was a devout Catholic, devoted wife and loving aunt, and will be greatly missed.  The family would like to thank the wonderful staff, Nuns and volunteers that cared for her at Father Lacombe Care Centre in Calgary.  Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass.  The funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church (238 - 2nd Avenue N.E.) on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Roque Pereira celebrant.  Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to the Father Lacombe Care Society at https://www.fatherlacombe.ca/.
