Marlene Roseanne Knodel, beloved wife of Barry Knodel of Medicine Hat, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the age of 70 years.
Marlene Knodel was born on February 26, 1956, in Medicine Hat Alberta, to John and Magdelaine Fleckenstein, and she was the younger sister to Leonard. She was raised and educated in the Catholic School system, and she was the first girl to take shop classes in Junior High, in Catholic School system. She rounded out her training by graduating from Garbutts Business College.
Marlene was a baby whisperer and a puppy smuggler! She was a Champion of those in need!
We all lived for her extraordinary meals at family gatherings, as Marlene was an extraordinary cook!
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Magdelaine Fleckenstein and her brother, Len Fleckenstein.
Marlene leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Barry Knodel; her son, Jay Knodel and his children, Caleb and Jaida, and their mom, Ashley; her daughter, Janine (Paul) Lauzon and their children, Lane, Maci Rai, and Arlo; her sister-in-law, Gaye Fleckenstein; her nephews, Ben and Kris Fleckenstein and their families; her mother-in-law, Margaret Knodel; her brothers-in-law, Wayne, Grant, Neale Knodel and their families, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral service will be held in the RIVER VALLEY CHURCH on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Borrows officiating. The service will be live streamed.
