Martin Essers, beloved partner of Barbara Graham of Manyberries, Alberta, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, at the age of 77 years. Martin was born July 4, 1948, in a small town called Valkenburgh Limburg, Netherlands. The son of Josef Hubertus Essers and Maria Cornelia Martens Essers. They moved from their beautiful hometown to escape the war and settled in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to start their new lives with his younger brothers, Henry and Adrian Essers. Martin became a heavy-duty mechanic after high school and not long after started a shop in Richmond, British Columbia, with his brother, Adrian and business partner Theo. The shop was called AMT. Martin had one child a daughter named, Carrie Essers (Ostapiw). Through the years he worked with many companies in the automotive industry. Martin was a very creative and talented individual building a motor home from scratch which was lovingly named the Battlestar Galactica. Even though Martin was always very busy he made sure to make time for his daughter Carrie. Spending time teaching her how to build, fix and create something out of scraps and various materials. They took various road trips over the years and created so many wonderful memories. Most people considered Martin a very unique man. From his cut off shorts, to his cigar hanging from his mouth, to his witty charm. These were just a few of his unique features. In his 50's he moved to Manyberries, Alberta, to live a quieter life. There he met a spunky gal named Barbara. They created a little space together with converted buses for greenhouses and an old church into a shop so he could still tinker and complete small automotive repairs. Martin was a great man, creative, loving, silly and just generous. He will be greatly missed by those who truly knew him and got to see the great and unique man he was.
