Martin John Schile

Martin John Schile of Medicine Hat  passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 21 , 2023 at the age of 79 years, beloved husband of Patricia Schile.  He also leaves to cherish his memory three children, Rod (Cathy), Carleen ✝, and Laura (James); grandchildren, Robin, Nathan (Mica), Rebecca, and Noah.  Martin is survived by his sisters Magdelina and Margaret; brothers, Peter and Edward, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as his entire extended family.  He was predeceased his parents, George and Genevieve Schile; his daughter Carleen in 1984; his brother, Louis and sister Agnes.  Martin was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, the sixth out of seven children   and raised on the farm in the Granlea area.  He attended Conquerville School before taking over the farm in 1965.  Together with Pat, they raised three children while building up Schile Turkey Farm.  Continuing into retirement family remained his focus, while enjoying his passion for model railroading.  Martin emceed many weddings and events throughout the community, most recently the wedding of his grandson Nathan to Mica.  He will be remembered for his deep, resonating voice that filled so many rooms and hearts.  The funeral  service  will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Pat Grisonich officiating.  The service will be live streamed.  Those who wish to attend virtually, please visit pattisonfuneralhome.com and select live streaming, then select the youtube (arrow).  A Private family interment will follow at the Hillside Cemetery .  Those who wish to remember Martin with a donation, may do so to a charity of one’s choosing.
