Marvin Woelfle Obituary

Marvin Woelfle, of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Edith Woelfle, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the age of 85 years. Beyond Marvin’s long-standing 48-year career as an insurance broker he was deeply committed to community service work since 1956. He spearheaded great accomplishments for our city which have been enjoyed by many generations: Kinsmen Skate-A-Thon, Kin Coulee, Kinplex and Jeffries Park. He also dedicated his life to organizations that help our community including Medicine Hat Kinsmen Club, Medicine Hat Curling Club, Medicine Hat Elks, Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede, Medicine Hat Senior Slow Pitch and the Medicine Hat Golf & Country Club. His positions entailed Chairman, District Governor, District Vice Governor, District Coordinator, Director, President, Vice President and service volunteer. He was honored with lifetime memberships from the Medicine Hat Senior Slow Pitch League, Kinsmen Club of Medicine Hat, Medicine Hat Curling Club and an honorary life membership with the Southern Alberta Curling Association. Through his professional career and service work he fostered relationships with many, becoming lifelong friends. He approached every task with full commitment to the end and never declined the opportunity to help, mentor and volunteer. His professional life also included business partnerships in Craven and Hall Insurance/Cedar Square Insurance & Financial Centre, Medicine Hat Maverick’s, Heritage Mazda, Metro Subaru, and Metro Kia auto dealership. His hobbies included golf, pheasant/goose hunting, curling, slow pitch baseball, sausage making and fishing. To say Marvin was a serious fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Saskatchewan Roughriders would be an understatement. Marvin was an accomplished individual who never sought recognition of his work and dedication. He was loved and respected by many. Outside of his family, he had two achievements that he was extremely proud of. The first being awarded The Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of the Confederation of Canada in recognition of significant contribution to compatriots, community and to Canada. The second, was obtaining a hole in one on March 2018,138 yards at the Viewpoint Golf Resort. However, both would take a back seat to the love and pride he felt for his family. Marvin was a devoted husband, father, son, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He leaves to cherish his memory, his four children, Janice Korenic, Judy (Glen) Getz, Jackie (Larry Rollack) Doell and Joy (Matt) Huffadine; seven grandchildren, David (Jade) Getz, Jade (Krista) Getz, Keeley (Leonard Spring) Doell, Grayce (Cody Canning) Doell, Emily Huffadine, Hailey Huffadine and Jason Huffadine; three great grandchildren, Bria Getz, Laken  Getz and Indiana Spring; one sister, Marylin Teel and one brother-in-law, Ken Jangula. Besides his loving wife Edith Woelfle, Marvin was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Edith Woelfle; two sisters-in-law, Carol Jangula and Marilyn Martin; two brothers-in-law, Gord Teel and Sonny Martin and his in-laws, Peter and Violet Martin.
