Menno George Neufeld Obituary

Menno Neufeld, beloved partner of Betty Visser, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the age of 85.

Menno was born and raised in Didsbury, Alberta, where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for building things with his hands. He began his career at the Olds, Alberta, post office and was later transferred to Peace River, Alberta. It was there that he turned his passion for carpentry into a livelihood — a craft he took great pride in and continued throughout his life. Over the years, Menno also lived and worked in Sundre, Calgary, Innisfail, and Coaldale, eventually settling in Medicine Hat, where he enjoyed a happy and well-earned retirement.

Menno will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Norma (Jake) Reimer; brother, Dennis (Wendy) Neufeld, and sister-in-law, Mart Neufeld.

He is also remembered by his children with his first wife, Sara, and their families. His son, Mike is the proud father of Kaylin (Davis Simpson) and James. Mike is married to Tracey, who has two sons, Ben Robinson (Andy Nadwidny) and Cody Resta (Brandi Lafreniere), along with grandson Huxley Resta. Menno’s daughter, Jackie is married to Michael Patterson, and together they share the joy of raising their sons, Simon and Isaac.

Menno also shared meaningful relationships with the children of his second wife, Cheryl, whom he considered family. He is remembered by Christine Erickson, Brian Hobson, who is married to Stacy, and her children Araya, Jaden, and Tye Simington; Trudy Vader (Richard Klassen) and her daughters, Brittni Sheils (Justin) and Bry Muir (Bryson), along with her granddaughter, Emma Sheils; and Vicki Menzies, mother to Kole and Taylor (Mya).

Menno was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Susan Neufeld, and his brother, Ed Neufeld.

A celebration of life will be held in the ROCKYVIEW ALLIANCE CHURCH (227 Pinemeadows Rd NE, Calgary, Alberta), on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with Richard Semenyna, officiating.

A private interment has taken place in the Hillside cemetery.
