Michael John Krakalovich

Michael John Krakalovich, of Medicine Hat, passed away after a short courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the age of 55 years. Michael leaves to cherish his memory, his parents, John and Bonnie Krakalovich; brother, Shawn (Gloria) and their children, Damien and his son Isacc, Dustin (Chantel) and their children, Lara and Oakley, Ryan (Leavi) and their children, Leighton and Brinley; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom he loved fiercely. He was predeceased by his grand parents, Maternal and Fraternal; three uncles; two aunts; one cousin. Michael was born January 3, 1971, with Spina Bifida. He graduated high school and supported himself with two jobs (Mc Donalds and Walmart). He moved to Medicine Hat after his divorce where he worked full-time at Mc Donalds on Red Deer Drive to support himself. During COVID, Michael lost his job, but he never stopped looking for employment. He took a Business Admin course and after a few failed attempts, Michael was hired as the weekend receptionist at Valley View Age Care. Michael loved that job and was very sad when they decided to do away with that position. He joined Toast Masters and became an area director. He loved to play sledge hockey. Michael was a youth leader with Temple Baptist Church and lead a youth bible study. Michael had an amazing faith in God. He lived his life with love for all. I had never seen him happier than when he found sledge hockey. It became his life and the members became his other family and family meant everything to him. Michael loved coming to Riverview Care Home with his mother to feed his aunt.

He made many special friends there. Michael will be missed.

The funeral service  will be held in the Temple Baptist Church (606 7th Street SW) on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Ed Lehman officiating.  

Those who wish to remember Mike with a donation, may do so to the Alberta Spina Bifida Association or the Medicine Hat Adaptive Sports and Recreation.
