Mildred "Millie" Mary Jesse (Dahl), beloved wife of Robert (Bob) Jesse of Medicine Hat, passed away at St. Joseph’s Home on Monday, August 11, 2025, at the age of 89 years.  

Born on May 29, 1936, in Success, Saskatchewan, Millie was a proud first-generation Canadian.  Her early life was shaped by resilience - her father, George Gonska, passed away when she was just six weeks old.  Her mother, Julia Romanowska, who had emigrated from Poland, married Peter Dahl when Millie was two.  Millie had a loving family with her mother and stepfather. 

Millie grew up on Riverside in Medicine Hat, Alberta, where she formed lifelong friendships, and she attended St. Theresa Academy.  She married Robert (Bob) Jesse on Nov. 10, 1956, at St. Patrick's in Medicine Hat, and they had a lifelong love  for nearly 69 years of marriage. Gifted with remarkable artistic talent, Millie found joy in creating beauty with her hands. She made exquisite pysanky eggs, crafted delicate dolls, and poured her skill into intricate needlepoint and embroidery. Her sewing was legendary among family, her children and grandchildren alike received lovingly made clothing, costumes, and keepsakes, each stitched with care and creativity.  Millie also loved her pool time and valued her friendships with her "aqua crew," who fondly say she was the heart of the class. 

Millie is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) Jesse; six children, Ron Jesse (Karen), Sandy Patterson (Don), Margaret Jesse, Diane Sis (Lumir), Doug Jesse (Selinda), and Grant Jesse; seven grandchildren, Spencer (Cassan), Erin (Kevin), Kirk (Jacqueline), Stacy (Reise), Dalton (Megan), Dakota (Logan), Noah, and eight great-grandchildren, Jackson, Elias, Nathan, Ariana, Amelia, Blake, Scottie, and Tripp.   She was predeceased by  her parents George Gonska and Julia Dahl (Romanowska), and her stepfather Peter Dahl.  Millie was the very definition of selflessness, giving of herself fully and unreservedly to her family. Her legacy of love, creativity, and kindness will be remembered and cherished always.

The memorial will be held at the Holy Family Parish Hall (1451 Strachan Rd SE, Medicine Hat) on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
