Patrick Joseph Liboiron Obituary

Pat Liboiron, a cherished husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away surrounded by family on January 17, 2025, at the age of 75 years.
He is survived by his beloved wife Brenda of 53 years, his children Lana (Scott) Stickel, Lisa Liboiron, Leanne (Brandon) Hilgendorf; grandchildren Jade (Dylan) Parker, Makayla Stickel (George Byrde), Silas and Daxton Hilgendorf; great grandchildren Ganon, Finn and Evelin Parker; his siblings Wayne (Melanie) Liboiron, Peggy (Jim) Bengert, Dianna (Paul) Norris, Aunt Sister Clem Liboiron and Brenda’s family Richard (Charlene) Oster, Dale Oster, Randy (Roberta) Oster, Terry Meier, along with numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Pat was predeceased by his parents Joe and Mary Liboiron, brother David Liboiron, in-laws Art and Ellen Oster and sister-in-law Lynn Meier.
Dad was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and grew up in Riverside. At the age of 13, he spent many days working alongside his dad on the farm. Mom and dad started dating in 1967. Dad took on ranching south of Cavan Lake after graduating. He enjoyed riding his horses and raising cattle. After mom and dad were married, they later moved to town and continued farming north of Irvine.
In the summer, mom and dad looked forward to spending time at the cabin in Elkwater. Dad spent countless hours on the lake water skiing and fishing with us and then enjoying a campfire. He also took great pleasure in winning the pot in a game of cards.
In the winter months, mom and dad treasured warm beach vacations and heading to Yuma, Arizona, where they created lasting memories with friends.
Dad lost his eyesight in 2017, due to cancer. Despite being blind, he continued to support us as we took over the farming venture. He could advise us on the operations on sound itself. Whether it was to increase the RPM on the tractor so the auger wouldn’t plug, or the sound of a loose belt that should be tightened, he often knew how to fix the problem. Dad found immense joy sitting in his quonset with the smell of wheat dust in the air, machinery and kid’s dirt bikes running in the distance, a beer in hand.
His loved ones brought him much pride and a zest for life. Dad always had a smile and laughter when family was near and he embraced them with his whole heart. Dad will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Dad beat stage four cancer despite the challenges. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at the Good Samaritan’s Society and Dr. Jeraj for their outstanding care of dad.
Memorial gifts in Pat’s memory may be made to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank.
