Penelope (Penny) Jackson, 86, of Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026.
She was born in the year 1939 in Hominy, Oklahoma to father, Lawrence Albert Jackson, and mother, Ima Nell Jackson Bunch. 
In 1952, Penny moved to Canada along side her parents residing in Calgary, Alberta. 

Marriage, and children brought a move to Medicine Hat, where she created a life with her family.
Together with Ken they owned Prairie Schooner Texaco and Towing. 
Life changed and so did Penny.

Penny worked for the City of Medicine Hat as Daycare supervisor, then became the director of culture and recreation. 
After retirement she passionately volunteered 16 years at the Esplanade.
The job that gave her the most joy was Gummee.A.Clown where she made children laugh and brought smiles to people's face.  Penny was the driving force in bringing Clown Camp to Canada. Clowns attended from Canada, USA and as far away as Japan, and Europe. Penny worked along side clowns who had been inducted in the International Clown Hall of Fame and Research Center (ICHOF), Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus instructors and many others. 
She also had the honour in clowning along side the Medicine Hat Shriners.

Penny is survived by her 3 children: Kevin Laverne Elsdon (Laurie), Kerry Gavin Elsdon (Gerry), and Kendee-K Smith (Tony). 

Her beautiful grandchildren:
Krista Duhaime (Jacob), Jadah Dorsett (Danny), Joel Elsdon (Kimiko), Layne Hammel (Innocent), Jackson Hammel, Priyeshka Nair (Avinash), Sydney Shelton (Carter) and Mason Smith (Taylor).

Her blessings great-grand children: 
Taven Dorsett, Brexton Dorsett, Arya Duhaime, Colson Dorsett, Emryn Dorsett. and Reed Elsdon.

The family would love you to spend Sunday January 18, 2026, from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Esplanade for a Celebration of life for Penny. 
"I am going home".
