Rena May Reid of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late H.C. Reid, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the age of 99 years. Rena leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Clair (Denise) Reid and Dwayne (Vickie) Reid; one daughter-in-law, Susan Reid; seven grandchildren, Leigh (Rocky), Tanya (Scott), Charlotte, Candace (James), Dezerae, Lacey (Sara) and Erin; eleven great gandchildren, Karissa, Ashley (Rob), Kaycee, Amanda, Chase, Aiden, Brielle, Dax, Lincoln, Abbi and Caitlin. Rena was predeceased by her parents Floyd and Belle Swarthout; one sister, Mildred; two sons Marvin and David. Rena was born January 10, 1926, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to Floyd and Belle Swarthout. She later moved to Hillandale, Saskatchewan where she met and married H.C. The happy couple then moved to Val Marie, Saskatchewan where she taught and was the school librarian. Rena moved back to Moose Jaw to care for H.C. and her mother; then to Victoria to live out her later years with family and to get away from the snow.  She then moved back to Medicine Hat to spend her final years close to more family. Rena loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She stayed active with hobbies her whole life. Some of her hobbies included cross county skiing, hiking in the hills, travelling, drama club and movies. Rena LOVED to write and garden. Rena joined the United Church at 13 and remained involved as long as she was physically able. She started attending virtually once she could no longer be there in person

The celebration of Rena’s life will take place in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with  Rev. Kristy Reimers-Loader celebrant.

Interment will take place in the Memory Garden Cemetery, Swift Current, Saskatchewan at a later date .
