Russell "Rusty" Dwight Zentner Obituary

Russell “Rusty” Dwight Zentner, beloved husband of Deborah Zentner, passed away suddenly on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at the age of 70 years. Besides his wife Debbie he also leaves to cherish his memory four daughters Lindsay Zentner (Tim), Jennifer Zentner-Horodeski (Colin), Megan Guynup (Tyler) and Kristen Zentner; his grandchildren Carden and Hadley Guynup, Evie and Bobby Horodeski and his beloved cats Shrimpy and Peedy. Rusty was predeceased by his son John William Zentner, parents John and Sylvia Zentner, his sister Sandy Deregowski and in-laws William and Jean Batt.
Rusty was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and spent his youth residing in Simpson, Saskatchewan. Upon hearing there was a new teacher in town, he drove his Dodge Challenger up Simpson's main street trying to seek out who was behind the giant winter coat. Well, he did, and six months later Rusty and Debbie were married settling in Estevan, Saskatchewan. Through 49 years there were, four daughters, three countries, three provinces, five cities, seventeen homes, three dogs, ten cats, sixteen neon shirts, seventeen tie dyed shirts, twenty plus TV's, six pairs of crocs .... and a partridge in a pear tree.
His fashion knew no bounds. Whether it be flannel, denim, tie dye, neon or his love for Saxxs underwear, his ensembles were always fun and entertaining. Our dad was a jack of all trades be that; pyrotechnician, sanitary engineer, mechanical extra ordinaire, self-proclaimed chef, enthusiastic engineer, movie bandit, interior designer, Clive Cussler fan man, stunt driver, family psychologist and above all was our SUPERDAD!
Rusty's professional career started with lpsco as a welder, with the vast majority being in the "oil patch" for companies; Dowell, Prairie Mud, Schlumberger in Canada and Russia, and finally Calfrac prior to retiring.  He had many great stories to which he was the main instigator or willing accomplice. When dad shared his adventures, everyone wanted to hear more.
All or nothing was how he lived; Christmas decor, stocked supplies, movie nights, shopping adventures, and to top the list firework displays for all to enjoy. Rusty's extracurricular activities were not limited to; pool sharking, bathing, badminton, 3- bounce, slow-pitch, bowling, cribbage, cards with mom, board games, and spending time with family and friends. One of his greatest joys was suiting up in coveralls, strapping on the fanny pack, tossing on the space ball helmet (DOT Certified), placing the crocs in sport mode, slipping on leather ropers, and finally finishing the look with tinted safety glasses just to hop onto the "adult" scooter for his freedom ride.
Those who knew Rusty know that he was game for anything, loved entertaining and was always the life of the party. His smile was contagious, humor endless, and a laugh that melted your heart. Rusty was one of a kind, a family man, big hearted, and would always lend a helping hand. He will never know how big of an impact he made on others, and these experiences over his 70 years will never be replaced or forgotten. To our husband, dad, and friend you will always remain living in our hearts and through our memories ....... We therefore respectfully request dad, that you haunt us for the rest of our lives until we can meet again. We Love You.
