Sharon Anne Anderson Obituary

Sharon Anne (McCabe) Anderson of Medicine Hat, beloved mother of Stacy Olson, Stefanie, Christie and Tammy Anderson passed away surrounded by family at the Medicine Hat Hospital on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the age of 78 years.

Sharon was born on April 6, 1947, at the Medicine Hat Hospital. Her early years were spent on the family farm near Senate, Saskatchewan. She frequently reminisced about those years on the farm with her dearest grandma and favourite uncles. She moved into Consul, Saskatchewan with her parents, Eva and Archie McCabe, and soon brother, Gordon and sister, Lois completed the family.  Sharon attended school in Consul and went on to take a hairdressing course at Richards Beauty College in Regina, Saskatchewan. Shortly after, in 1967, Sharon married and lived for a short time in Thompson, Manitoba before moving to Medicine Hat and then Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. She remarried in 1977. Sharon and her family resided in Macklin, Saskatchewan from 1983 to 1989, and in Wainwright, Alberta from 1989 to 2001. Sharon had four daughters, Stacy, Stefanie, Christie, and Tammy. Sharon worked in retail for many years before attaining certification as a licensed realtor in 1990 and embarking on a 15-plus-year career in real estate in the communities of Wainwright and Medicine Hat.

Sharon was a social butterfly and thrived on gathering and visiting with family and friends. She continued to make new friends until the end of her days. She was fun-loving and enjoyed music and dancing. Sharon had a “green thumb” and loved flowers and tending to her yard. She took much pride in her home. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crosswords and playing cards and games. Sharon was an animal lover and was always happy having pets around her.

Above all, Sharon was dearly loved as Mom and Nana. She raised four daughters with unwavering strength and love. Sharon’s greatest joys were her grandchildren each of whom shared a special bond with her. She also treasured her nieces and nephews.

Sharon is survived by her four daughters, Stacy Olson (Derrick George), Stefanie Anderson, Christie Anderson (Kevin Donahoe), and Tammy Anderson (Bart Winquist); nine grandchildren, Anna Murphy, Kailey Anderson, Javon Bennett, Cambrie Bowyer, Hannah Olson, Bryson Bowyer, Gracelyn Bowyer, Wylder Winquist, and Avalon Jackson; one brother, Gordon McCabe, and one sister, Lois (Barry) Pinnell. She will also be fondly remembered by nieces and nephews, Amanda (Sean) Dexter and family, Caitlyn (Ben) McLachlan and family, Joshua (Katia) McCabe, Jenna (Ty) McCabe, Chelsie and Tansie Pinnell, Sheana (Chris) Sale and family; and cousins Marie (Duke) Pedersen and family, Gwen (Doug) Page and family, and Bill (Charlene) Schafer.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents, Eva and Archie McCabe, and son-in-law, Trevor Olson.

Sharon’s family wish to extend heartfelt thanks to the medical and nursing staff of the Medicine Hat Hospital and especially the Medicine Hat Hospital ICU Team.
