Teresa Marie Cone Obituary

Teresa Marie Cone (nee Ibach), beloved wife of George Cone, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025.  Teresa was born in Empress, Alberta, on April 16, 1952.  Teresa married George on April 19, 1997.

Teresa was predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret Ibach; her sisters, Alma Ibach, Justina Neigel, brothers, Albert and Jerome Ibach; brothers-in-law, Bill Neigel, Alex Leeb, Ron Maloney and Ken Bachmeier; sisters-in-law, Claire and Frances Ibach; nieces, Nona Neigel, Cheryl Macleod, Michelle Bachmeier, Alixes Leeb; great nephew, Matthew Eccleston; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lucille and Gerald Cone.

Teresa will be dearly missed by her family, Rosa (Alex ✝) Leeb, Joe (Pauline) Ibach, George (Claire ✝) Ibach, Gwen (Albert ✝) Ibach, Shirley (Ken ✝) Bachmeier, Ron (Linda) Ibach, Helen (Doug) Marshall, Bernadette (Ron ✝) Maloney, Elizabeth (Gilles) Caron, Cabrini (Terry) Hurst, Anne (Bill) Helfrich, Clarence (Marie) Ibach, Colette (Don) Hall, fifty-seven nieces and nephews, one hundred and one great nieces and nephews, twenty-nine great-great nieces and nephews; George’s brothers, triplets Anthony, David, Gregory Cone, Michael (Evelyn) Cone; nephews Peter and James Cone and many of their friends.

Teresa was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League at St. Gerard’s in Calgary and Holy Family in Medicine Hat.

Teresa and George enjoyed their hobby every summer– camping alone, or with family and friends.  They also enjoyed their holidays to Jamaica, Cook Islands, Mexico and Cuba. Teresa often shared that George treated her like a Queen.

Teresa received most of her schooling in Acadia Valley.  During life, she had various careers including waitressing in the Calgary Tower as well as Information Technology (without formal training).  At the age of 50, Teresa fulfilled her lifetime dream by attending hairdressing school and became a bonafide hairdresser (graduating at the top of the class).  She set up her hair salon in their Calgary home and proceeded to set up shop again when they moved to Medicine Hat.  With her wit, Teresa named her business “Hair It Is”.

Teresa had quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. Her kindness, her birthday cards, her Sunday morning breakfasts and just having her with us, are among the many things that we will miss dearly.

Teresa was very close to her brother, Jerry and in his words “We are so blessed to be raised in a large, farm family.  We had fantastic parents and the best brothers and sisters.  What wealth!”

Teresa, when you and I in heaven meet, we will lay a crown at Jesus’s feet.  (Quote of her mom)
