Violet “Vi” Bernice Schlenker of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Vernon Schlenker, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the age of 96 years.  

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Stan (Pauline) Schlenker and Leroy Schlenker (Jane Reggin); four grandchildren, Tammy (Harry) Fornefett, Shaun Sultz, Tara Ricci and Troy Schlenker; seven great grandchildren, Krysa, Anyssa, Logan, Cole, Ashlynn, Cayden and Jaslynn; four sisters, Florence Ehert-Severin, Shirley Winkler, Valana Ashlie, and Gladys Kern as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  

She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon Schlenker; her parents, Christina and Gotthilf Kern; her daughter, Bernice Dorsch; her grandson, Kevin Schlenker and her sister, Alice (Harold) Walker.

Violet was born in Medicine Hat on May 20, 1929.  She grew up on the family farm west of Hilda.  Violet married Vernon on June 17, 1949, and together they farmed the Schlenker farm west of Hilda until they retired to Medicine Hat in 1974.  Following her husbands passing, Violet remained in her home and was an avid gardener.  She enjoyed bowling and dancing, and she was still able to dance at Chinook Village last Christmas.  

The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME & CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTRE, on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Derek Letwinetz officiating.  Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.  Those who wish to pay their respects may do so one hour prior to the service.
