Obituary
Wayne Nielsen passed away on Friday April 28, 2023, at the age 88 years in Medicine Hat, Alberta with family by his side. He was born in Lashburn Saskatchewan, raised on the farm and loved being outdoors. He was predeceased by his wife Shirley (Hicks) Nielsen. Together they brought five children into this family: Marie Nielsen, Robert Nielsen, Douglas Nielsen, Cheryl (Bud) Kallenberger, and Calvin Nielsen. Next came eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He leave behind three sisters, Leona (Eric) Beamish, Irene (Ben) Weber and Celia (Bill) Armstrong along with many nieces and nephews.
Wayne was always up for an adventure as long as it involved being outside and having fun. He was the coolest dad/grampa - playing hockey, baseball, soccer, canoeing, fishing, hunting, and scuba diving. He even made a private seven hole golf course as well as dirt bike/quad trails in his forest for the his grandchildren to play cops and robbers on the farm west of Olds.
Dad will be joining mom at a country cemetery near Vermilion, Alberta in a family ceremony.
